Primarily quantity in combination with climate change:
The ongoing increase of the deficit of the climatically water balance is increasing the need for irrigation, which is currently essentially done from deep groundwater layers. Further extraction is supposed to harm the local small watercourses.
Secondary Quality: due to continued crop-failures from insufficient irrigation, applied fertilizers will not be uptaken from crops and will leach during the following winter.
